Free AI agent skills are useful when they are easy to inspect, focused on a real workflow, and distributed with enough metadata to compare before installation.
Are the skills free to download?
The public ShowUskills packages are free downloads. The first product goal is traffic, discovery, and trust rather than checkout or paid access.
Users should still inspect each downloaded package before installing it in a local agent environment.
Can an agent install skills automatically?
The first MCP registry is intentionally read-only from the user's machine perspective. It can search, inspect, recommend, return download links, and record aggregate usage, but it does not modify local files.
Automatic installation can be considered later only after the trust, permissions, and client-specific install paths are designed carefully.
How are new skills published?
New public batches are selected from the raw candidate pool after quality filtering, risk filtering, deduplication, classification, packaging, and live deployment checks.
Each published skill gets a detail page, category placement, R2 package, D1 record, Vectorize vector, MCP access, and sitemap entry.
